Quarters 1 - 6 What I did and What i recommend

This website has been created to educate and inform people particularly students on how I played the Marketplace6 game and achieved a score of 22/25 (HD).

This game was played for the the undergraduate course, Marketing Princples, in Australia

The game I played compromised 6 quarters.

 

Tips in Detail

-Opens all sales offices earlier
By the end of the game you have to open all the sales offices so it would be better to open them earlier and start to place adds and brands in these new places, in order to review how brands and adds are performing so appropriate measures can be made for improvement.

-Make Brands and adds targeting all segments
When you choose which 2 segments you are going to target, out of work horse, Mercedes and Traveller, you don't only create Brands and Adds for the particular 2 segments you have chosen, you have to create Brands and Adds for all 3 segments, however only 2 segments will be counted towards your market share, but by creating products for all 3 segments this will increase your financial performance as it will increase sales. Thus increasing your overall score.

-Make 3 Brands for each segment
It is recommended to create 3 brands for each segment, low - medium - high to increase sales.
Low- Create a Brand with the lowest features, this would be one of the first brands your would create in the game.
Medium- Create a Brand with a mixture of low and high features.
High- Create a Brand with the best features - R&D
Having a product line will increase customers, as each customer would have there own price range and specifications.
Do not create to many brands as you will just be wasting money.

-Increasing your price and creating a rebate is better then a cheaper price
Firstly your price would reflect, the particular Brand and your competitors, however don't be scared to increase your price higher then your competitors, as price determines value, thus I would recommend a Value added pricing system.
It is better to offer a rebate then lowering your price because not everyone goes through with the rebate, as you need to think how our brains work, when people see a rebate, the first thing they would think is that we can get our money back so its cheaper, however not everyone would end up actually claiming this rebate, therefore increasing profits

-The more money you invest in the game the more money you will make, add placements
You need to create a lot of add placements for each city, to do this just have a look at the market size place an amount of adds that reflects the market size, also have a look at your competitors, and you should be placing more then what they have.

-Add more sales force
You need to create a strong sales force, I put 14 in each city however I suppose this was a bit to high, however I would recommend 10 in each city.
